We are supremely grateful for both electricity and water today, because most of the city is without power, and for awhile it looked like we might all have our water shut off. (There was a power outage at the city water plant. Apparently it's fixed.) We're warm, safe, dry, and although we have lost quite a few trees to the ice, none of them are close to the house. All our friends are warm and safe, and it looks like we will have survived the Great Ice Storm of '09.

(I would just like to point out that this picture is taken straight-on and not at an angle. Note the roofline of the house across the street in the left corner. Most of the icicles formed yesterday, now the entire branch is leaning. There is one new icicle on the left side, that is straight. Cool, right?!?)
