Dad

Happy 60th Birthday, Dad!
May your next 60 years be just as great.

(ps. I really had to dig for a picture of you with your moustache...)

Dollar Movie

Today a friend called and reminded me that the movie theater here in town does a movie every Thursday morning for $1 admission. We were thrilled to go! We had a great time at the movies and hopefully we'll do it again next week - last week!

How much more fun can you have for a dollar?

Truth

Sometimes you find something that just completely tells it like it is...

Happy we're home

Look who missed me! She made me a project with some Nuudles (the foam pieces) and bought me a present while she was out shopping with Nana. What a cutie!

Perks

Ryan used his hotel points to get our room in Nassau. (We used a combination of points and cash for every night - it was a great deal!) One of the perks of having so many hotel points is that you are automatically upgraded to a better room if one is available... and it was!

He also used his frequent flier miles to get not only our tickets to Nassau but also my mom's ticket from Utah to come out and stay with Rachael while we are gone.

Finally all those trips to China are paying off - for both of us!

Aloe Vera

For those wicked sunburns... aloe vera and lidocaine.

Good stuff.

(just ask Ryan)

A Happy Place

The Sister Ricks Show

Both my counselors were out today, and I still don't have a secretary, so it was the Sister Ricks show in Primary again today.

I'm so thankful for my mom, who played the piano, and for the music leader and all the teachers that are so great to come prepared every week. I always feel like I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off, but at least I know the singing will be great and the kids will all have a teacher in class.

Daddy's Little Helper

We got home from shopping just in time to see Ryan starting the mower. Rachael grabbed her things and ran in the house, saying, "I just need to put these things in the house, then I can help Daddy mow the yard!"

I'm glad she's the kind of girl that loves to go shoe shopping with her mom and Nana, then mow the yard with Dad.

Sidewalk Chalk

We bought some sidewalk chalk for $1 at the store today. I'm pretty sure it's the best $1 fun we have had!

Drawing a blue lake

A little chalk on her nose

A little of our handiwork

Garden Beans

Quite possibly one of the best things about summer... green beans fresh from the garden and cooked in the pressure cooker, with a large pat of butter and a little salt. Heaven on earth. (And it's not even chocolate!)

My Big Girl

Today Rachael announced that she was ready to be a big girl and start using the potty.

Fingers crossed!

Finding Rainbows

This morning Rachael was "writing a song" (translation - drawing on paper) with her pink pen that has a jewel on the end. She was thrilled to discover that the morning sun made rainbows on the table!
