Practice

I helped out at Rachael's kindergarten class today and got to watch her practice for the talent show.  (She is doing her own ballet).  It's a lot of just dancing and twirling, but she is trying to add some actual ballet moves, too.

Never too many pictures of the sunrise!

FHE

Today's dessert for FHE: parfaits with Otap from the Phillipines.  They are like ladyfinger cookies; they taste a lot like a puff pasty cookie.  These are layered with crumbled Otap, vanilla pudding, and strawberries.  Yum!

Wild Turkey

Roy went hunting for turkey on Tuesday and brought this to me Wednesday.  (Well, it was uncooked when he brought it.)  We opted to have it for our Easter dinner.  It is certainly different than store-bought turkey, but it was delicious!

Imagination

She is 'driving the plane' (her words).  She then put it on pause so she could answer the phone.
What kind of generation are we raising here?

Souvenirs

Ryan brought Rachael a pink hat from Disneyland Hong Kong on a previous business trip.  He bought a kids size (I would have too!) but it turns out she already has an adult sized head! So on his last trip to Taiwan he bought her an adult sized hat. Probably the only good thing that has come from multiple trips to Asia this year!

Bargains

This is my order from Ulta.  I bought the two eye shadows (the small round black containers) and got the entire box of samples, a tote bag, and shipping for FREE!  I love a good deal.

Dance Pictures

The girls got their pictures taken for tap class today.  But this was my favorite: the other seven girls watching the eight get her individual pictures done.  Loot at all those sparkles! (Rachael is on the far left, with the bow on the right side of her head.)

Sun Protection

Ryan's dermatologist suggested a switching to a hat with a wide brim for fishing, so we bought him a Tilley hat.  It arrived in the mail today and he is in Taiwan, so Rachael modeled it for him.

Furniture

Did you know this picture is of furniture? It is.

It is printing furniture, used to help set the type in the chase.  Then the chase is put into the printing press and pages are printed.  The furniture is packed in tight around the type so it doesn't fall out.

I found the following story in Chapter 11 of the book Church History in the Fullness of Times.  I have heard this story for years and just assumed they meant the chairs and tables:

"The meeting quickly turned into a mob that decided to destroy the printing office and the press. They surrounded the printing office and residence of W. W. Phelps, threw the furniture into the street and garden, broke the press, scattered the type, and destroyed nearly all the printed work, including most of the unbound sheets of the Book of Commandments."
(Click here for the entire chapter.)
