Teaching Field Trips

For the month of October I will be teaching field trips a few days a week at the Lexington Corn Maze at Kelley Farms.  Playing all day with kids on the farm? This could be my favorite job ever!

I was mowing the backyard today when I noticed something moving through the grass.  After a couple of passes of the mower I stopped to see what it was... it is an 8 inch female praying mantis.  She crawled across the lawn for a few more passes before I finally just moved her out of the way.

I hope next spring I find it was worth the effort! 

Sprawling

Apparently all these late nights and early mornings are catching up with her.
